Vocabulary lesson

Homey and homely are not interchangeable.

Homey=pleasant and comfortable.

Homely=unattractive in appearance

Generally speaking, you do not want a homely kitchen. Or a homely baby.

When I did my intro training with the State Dept we had a session with some PR peeps evaluating our public speaking skills. After I gave my presentation the guy said I was homely looking and he was surprised that I could deliver such a forceful speech. How are you supposed to respond to that?
