Playing Catch-Up

It’s been a month since I’ve blogged, and I was behind even then! Since this serves as a form of a journal, I’d like to go back and post some of what has happened in our family since May.

First, Mother’s Day. I have the most amazing husband. He is the best. He made me eggs Benedict with homemade Hollandaise sauce for our breakfast. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the sauce was deliciously tangy. As awesome as that is, it gets even better—we have 9:00 church, so that means he got up amazingly early so that we could all eat and be ready in time. He also made a delicious dinner of enchiladas with a mole sauce. Thank you, honey!

Looking at these pictures makes me realize that we have made some progress on the dining room space. That ugly stained glass window is gone, we’re no longer eating on a folding table with a vinyl tablecloth, and there are far fewer doors in the room.

Averi also had her preschool graduation in May. We had such a fun group of kids this year. They are at such an easy age, and the lessons were a breeze to put together. We had the “graduation” at the park, where we followed up with games and treats.

Aaron’s parents came out to visit at the end of May. We always love when family come to visit. Kerry is so wonderful about helping us with tasks around the house (BIG cheer for assembled bunk beds and food storage that’s stored!) and Connie plays and plays with the kids. It also gives us a chance to play tourist in our own backyard. We decided to take a little day trip out to Tent Rocks. It was so cool, and very close to home. The wind was ridiculous, though. It caused many tears as it blew hats away. We stopped by Cochiti Lake on the way home and gave the kids a chance to wade in the water. As expected, wading turned into full-on swimming, but everyone had a good time. Next time we go we’ll have to bring our swimsuits and water shoes. The lake was extremely rocky and rather painful to walk around in.

This is to show you a side by side comparison of Bridget and Averi. We make one child. (Averi is on the right.)

Katie and Paul had a Gym Show at the beginning of June. They have LOVED gymnastics this year. They’ve been really excited about the Olympics, and it’s so fun to see them practice. We’ve decided that we need to install a set of bars for them, since they’re constantly climbing and pulling up on everything. Our walls are covered in little footprints. The lighting in the gym was terrible for taking photographs, so very few of the pictures that I took turned out well. But my kids are still adorable.

I think my favorite picture was the one of Paul on the podium. He looks so awesome!
